Birit Bagets is a segment that that concluded on 7 July 2001. It is a singing competition for teenage children who can belt out vocally challenging songs.

The segment is similar to the more iconic segment Birit Baby, a singing competition for younger children.

Angeline Llamosa, the 17-year-old singer of Meycauayan, Bulacan, was hailed as the grand winner of the competition.

Grand finals Edit

The grand finals was held on Saturday, 7 July 2001. It was hosted by Joey de Leon, Toni Rose Gayda, Vic Sotto, Jimmy Santos, Ruby Rodriguez, and Anjo Yllana. Six contestants competed against one another, showcasing their level-up vocal performances in the final round of the competition.

The panel of judges included Center for Pop Music founder Butch Albarracin, Metro Pop musical director Lorie Ilustre, singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid, hitmaker Janno Gibbs, and singer Jaya. The criteria for judging were as follows:

  • 40% – Voice quality
  • 30% – Interpretation
  • 20% – Diction
  • 10% – Audience impact

Angeline Llamosa, the 17-year-old singer of Meycauayan, Bulacan, was hailed as the grand winner of the competition. She took home the cash prize of ₱50,000 and a scholarship from the Center for Pop Music.

Non-winners each received a consolation prize of ₱3,000.

Trivia Edit

  • The grand finals of Birit Bagets was replayed in full on Tuesday, 31 March 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic that resulted in the suspension of all live shows, Eat Bulaga! opted to replay throwback videos of some of its most iconic segments from way back in the past.
  • Birit Bagets grand finalist Christian Alvear is notable for being the first-ever grand winner of That's My Boy in 1991.
