Maid in the Philippines 2019 is an edition of Eat Bulaga!'s original talent contest for housemaids who are charming, talented, and witty. The segment premiered on 12 August 2019 and concluded on 17 August 2019.
The week-long competition was one of the 15 Tatak Eat Bulaga! segments revived as part of the noontime show's 40th anniversary celebration.[1] The short-lived and rapid-fire revival of the segments aimed to give the new generation of Filipinos an opportunity to experience the show's several iconic and original contests. Winners were scheduled to face off in the Tatak Eat Bulaga! Grand Showdown in mid-2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic postponed the final competition indefinitely.
Riza Demate, a 21-year-old domestic worker from Concepcion, Iloilo, was proclaimed as the grand winner at the end of the competition.[2] Her victory can be attributed to her cheerfulness, confidence, and quick-wittedness in the talent and interview portions of the grand finals.
Overview
Auditions
The contest was open to female domestic workers between 18 and 35 years old who are charming, talented, and witty. Requirements for the audition included a barangay certificate and a letter from the maid's employer. The auditions were held at APT Studios.
The majority of the contestants for this year's edition have local celebrities as their employers.
An online edition of the segment was also held by Eat Bulaga! for Filipino domestic workers who are working abroad. Participants sent in videos containing their personal information as well as their talent performance to an email address provided by the noontime show. The winner of the online edition received ₱10,000. The identity of the winner was slated to be revealed on Monday, 19 August 2019. However, no announcement was made that day.
Daily rounds
The daily rounds occurred from 12 to 16 August 2019. They were hosted by Ryzza Mae Dizon, who reprised her role as Boss Madam, and Allan K, who also reprised his character of Doña Gorgonia "Gorg" Magalpok.
Each daily round featured two new contestants who competed against one another with their talent, wit, and charm. The contestants showcased their skills and abilities in the talent portion, and then tested their confidence and wit in the interview portion. Contestants were given a housekeeping-related situation to which they must act out a response with the segment's hosts.
A total of 40 people from the studio audience were invited to judge the contestants. The criteria for judging were as follows:
- 25% – Charm and personality
- 50% – Made to perform
- 25% – Pasado kina Mam, Sir
Daily winners received a cash prize and advanced to the grand finals.
Grand finals
The grand finals took place on Saturday, 17 August 2019. Ryzza Mae Dizon (as Boss Madam) and Allan K (as Doña Gorgonia Magalpok) served as the primary hosts of the event.

An additional 40 studio audience members also joined the panel to judge the competition. The votes of the celebrity judges were weighted more heavily than the votes of the audience members.
The five grand finalists underwent final talent and question-and-answer portions. The contestants presented their ultimate level-up performances in the talent portion, while their wit and confidence were tested in the question-and-answer portion. The panel of judges provided different housekeeping-related questions to the finalists who must act out their response with the segment's hosts or judges.
