Tsuperstar 2020 is an edition of Eat Bulaga!'s talent contest for male and female drivers of commercial vehicles such as trucks, jeepneys, tricycles, buses, and ride-sharing services. The segment premiered on 9 March 2020 and concluded on 14 March 2020.
The week-long competition was one of the 15 Tatak Eat Bulaga! segments revived as part of the noontime show's 40th anniversary celebration.[1] The short-lived and rapid-fire revival of the segments aimed to give the new generation of Filipinos an opportunity to experience the show's several iconic and original contests. Winners were scheduled to face off in the Tatak Eat Bulaga! Grand Showdown in mid-2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic postponed the final competition indefinitely.
Christian Samson, a JoyRide motorcycle taxi driver from Navotas City, emerged victorious as the grand winner at the end of the competition. He impressed the judges with magic tricks and mentalism as his talent.
Overview
Auditions
The contest was open to both men and women between 21 and 40 years old who are, by profession, drivers of jeepneys, tricycles, buses, and trucks. Because of new modes of commercial transportation brought about by the digital age, the contest also accepted drivers of food delivery and ride-hailing services like Angkas, JoyRide, and Grab. Auditions were held at APT Studios.
Daily rounds
The daily rounds occurred from 9 to 12 March 2020.
Each round featured two new contestants who were briefly interviewed by the hosts about their personal lives and occupation before showing off their skills and abilities in the talent portion. Winners received a cash prize of ₱20,000 and advanced to the grand finals of the competition.
In the pilot episode, the segment featured a question-and-answer portion in which different public transit commuters provided a question to each of the contestants. However, the portion was immediately scrapped the next day.
